Allen Dwyane Collins Sr., 64, passed away peacefully Aug. 15, 2004, in Mercy General Hospital after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Dwyane was born June 15, 1940, in Turkey, Texas, to Lee and Lorene Collins. He married his sweetheart, Susan Lee Scheller, on Sept. 14, 1963, and was sealed to her for time and all eternity in Los Angeles LDS Temple on Sept. 10, 1966. Together they had three sons and four daughters. His true joy and happiness in life sprang from his family and his faith.
Dwyane was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many leadership positions. He graduated with a master's degree from Cal Poly SLO and went on to teach school for 34 years. He taught agriculture and coached football at Fairfield High School for 23 years, and taught physical education, serving as an FFA and 4-H adviser and Pop Warner football coach, for 20 years.
Dwyane was one of the last surviving cowboys of our time. He was a valuable member of the national championship rodeo team at Cal Poly SLO, and has calf roped, bulldogged and team roped his entire life. Dwyane's sincerity and quick wit endeared him to everyone he encountered. There could not be a man more loved than him.
Dwyane is survived by his loving wife, Susan; children, Kymberly Collins, Clay Collins, Courtney Kimball, Lacy Collins and Chelsey Collins; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Collins; son-in-law, Trent Kimball; and nine adorable grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Savannah, Cody and Luke Collins; Colton, Bailey and Clayton Kimball; and Cory Collins. He is also survived by his mother, Lorene Collins; sister, LaRae Claasen; brother, Kirt Collins; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his sons, Dwyane Collins Jr. and Cody Collins, and his father, Lee Collins.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Stake Center, 480 Wrentham Drive in Vacaville, at 11 a.m. Monday. A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the same location. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to can send donations to the Collins family, c/o Bishop Scott Bennett, 136 Hawk Court, Vacaville, 95687.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and loves ones that Mr. Collins leaves behind. I will always remember Mr. Collins from Fairfield High School and Waterman Ranch. He taught us, the Ranch kids, a lot. We all have many great stories to tell from those days. Mr. Collins and his entire family, especially Dwayne Jr. are wonderfull people. Mr. Collins touched many lives. He will be missed.

Mr. Collins was my favorite teacher at Fairfield High. He was the one teacher that made us all laugh with his "conditioned help" seating arrangements. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. Now he can take care of Duane and Cody, who are also very missed. My condolences to the family.

Dwayne was a kind and considerate man. I worked with him at Grange from 1987 until 1993.
Dwayne was inspirational and truly a friend.
Dwayne's love for his family was well known.
Please accept my condolences.
