Donald H. Benner

DONALD BENNER Donald H. Benner, 86, a long-time Worcester resident, passed away February 9, 2012. He was the husband of the late Ruth L. (Tew) Benner, who passed away in 2004. Born December 27, 1925 in Jeffersonville, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Bertha A. (Henning) Benner. He was a graduate of the former Lansdale High School, received an Associate's degree from Ursinus College, and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Benner was employed by American Olean Tile Co. of Lansdale, retiring as plant manager in 1988. He was an active member of Wentz's United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Village Singers of Fairview Village and the Toastmasters. He enjoyed working outdoors. Surviving are two children, Gregory L. Benner and his wife, Marie, of Worcester, and Cheryl Lynn Benner of Pottstown; two sisters, Virginia Camburn of Royersford, and Roberta Tew of North Wales; two grandchildren, Dana Montieth and Gregg Benner; two great-grandchildren, Rylin and Brynn Montieth; and nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is also survived by his very close companion, Anna Felty. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11AM Friday, February 17, at Wentz's United Church of Christ, 3246 Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10AM. Burial will be private in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Ruth Benner Endowment Fund of Wentz's United Church of Christ at the address above.
