Margaret Keen Obituary

CARBONDALE - Margaret "Sugie" Gilbert Keen, 76, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Carbondale, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Sugie was born May 17, 1933, a daughter of James Junior and India Gilbert (Guthrie) Stillwell. She married Robert D. Keen on Sept. 5, 1953, in Lawrenceville.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, India Marie and James H. Williams of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her grandson and his wife, Jason Edward and Megan S. Williams of Park Ridge; one great-grandchild, Jack Thomas Williams; her brother and his wife, James Edward and Georgia Stillwell of San Antonio; her sister-in-law and husband, Martha Jean and Robert Brunson of Champaign; her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Kessler of Centralia; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in both Illinois and Texas.

Her parents; and husband preceded her in death.

Sugie received her degree from Christian College in Columbia, Mo. She was a teacher's assistant at Maine South High School in Park Ridge.

Sugie was a member of First Presbyterian Church and First Christian Church of Carbondale. She was a 57 year member of PEO, a member of the Women's Club of Carbondale, member of Antique Study Club, docent at the Hays House and participated in several bridge clubs.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
