Robert Donnell Obituary

WILLISVILLE - Robert L. Donnell Jr., 61, went to be with Jesus at 1:49 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at his home.

Robert was born Jan. 3, 1949, in Blytheville, Ark., the son of Robert L. Donnell Sr. and Bessie (Hicks) Donnell.

He married Marilyn S. Lipe on Dec. 31, 1992, in Belleville.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. His main field of work was in maintenance. He worked for A & A Appliance in Washington Park for many years. Before that, he preached the gospel, worked security and various other jobs. He was also known as "Cowboy" as he used to be a DJ. He loved music very much.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn S. Donnell of Willisville; three sons, Robbie Donnell of Arkansas, William Donnell of Collinsville and Jonathan Donnell of Willisville; one stepson, Kenneth Graves of Willisville; one stepdaughter, Melissa Graves of O'Fallon; several grand-children; his father, Robert L. Donnell Sr. of Cahokia; two sisters, Becky Temple of Arkansas and Karen and Eugene Qualls of Mississippi; half sister, Mary Jo Mangles of Caseyville; and a dear friend, Dee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother and his father-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, in Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with the Rev. James Clardy officiating. Burial will be in Cutler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
