Arthur Harmon

Arthur 'Junebug' Harmon, age 83, of Willisburg, passed away at 8:53 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2013 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
A native of Washington County, he was born on July 31, 1929 to the late Arthur and Zula Frances Smock Harmon.
He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a 1948 graduate of Mackville High School, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #201F. & A.M. at Mackville and a member of the Willisburg Lions Club. He was a former deputy sheriff of Washington County and a retired employee of Nally & Gibson Quarries.
Preceding him in death were a son, Tommy Harmon on Dec. 1, 2003; a grandchild, Alton Brooks Harmon; three sisters, Wilma Harmon, Myrtle Derringer and Cynthia Edwards; and six brothers, Calvin, J.C., Kenneth, Theodore, Hollis and Curtis 'Joe' Harmon.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Carney Harmon; a son, Glenn Harmon and his wife, Denise of New Haven; 12 grandchildren, Amy, Keasha, Anthony, Jennifer, Hannah, Tommy, Alicia, Caroline, Emily, Noah, Billy Joe and Matthew; a great-grandson, Carson and two sisters, Mary Cheser and her husband, Bobby of Willisburg and Cora Mae Shely and her husband, Harry of Shelbyville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.W. Hatfield, pastor of the Willisburg Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg where military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers were Terry Carney, Mike Harmon, Harry Harmon, John Harmon, Joe Norris Harmon and Charles Harmon.
A masonic service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday evening at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Billy Riggs delivering the eulogy.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
