Curtis Persinger Obituary
Muncie - Curtis Monroe Persinger, Jr., 83, ran his race with patience and went to be with Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Waters of Muncie.
He was born on August 23, 1935 in Logan County, WV, the son of Curtis M. and Oma Mary Persinger, Sr. He grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Van High, where he met the love of his life, Sadie "Frances" Fraley. Curtis served his country honorably in the U.S. Army traveling the world. After marrying, Curtis and Frances eventually settled in Muncie, where they raised their 3 children.
Curtis worked for Muncie Chevrolet for 30 years until his retirement in 1987.
Curtis had a passion for Jesus, family, music and guitars. He was a fantastic guitar picker and an audience made his heart smile. Passing on those passions is a big part of his legacy. He will affectionately be remembered as "The Leader of The Band".
Surviving are one daughter, Vicky (Wayne) Bandy and one son, Richard (Suzi) Persinger, both of Muncie; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Neva, one of Curtis and Frances' caretakers, who exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond in caring and loving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Sadie "Frances" Persinger on March 7, 2017; one daughter, Anna (Persinger) Licht; one brother, William Anderson Persinger and one sister, Martha Ann Persinger.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Dylan Persinger officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018.
