Frank Turk Obituary

SELMA, Ala. — Service for Sgt. Frank Turk, 89, formerly of Columbia, S.C., will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Lewis Brother’s Funeral Home Chapel, Selma, Ala., with interment to follow in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Ala. A.A. Dicks Funeral Home-Sullivan Chapel, Columbia, S.C., is in charge of local arrangements.
 
Mr. Turk died Saturday, September 19, 2009. He was born in Mobile, Ala., to the late Tom and Ida James Turk.
 
Sgt. Turk served his country honorably during World War II and retired from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service. He also retired from A.A.F.E.S. at Fort Jackson, S.C.
 
He was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church House St., Columbia, S.C., where he served faithfully on the Trustee’s Ministry, the Deacon’s Ministry and the Jubilee Choir.
 
He is survived by his brother, John D. Turk of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren, all of Columbia, S.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
