Lexington, South Carolina - The funeral service for Katherine B. Cogdill, 84, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo, S.C., 29063. The interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, S.C. 29072.
Katherine was born on March 5, 1938 in Haverhill, Massachusetts and departed this earthly life on July 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John Leschensky and Ruth H. Ferguson Leschensky. Katherine was a charter member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church along with her husband, Bill. At Riverland Hills Baptist Church, she was a member of the Friendship Class, the Greeter Ministry, assisted with vacation bible school, the MOP Squad, the Seniors Hall, and helped with the pew supplies and maintenance team. She also volunteered her time and talents while sharing God's Love through service at Connie Maxwell Children's Home. Katherine's many hobbies included exercising, playing golf, decorating cakes, and Sudoku. She served the community as a Red Cross Platelet donor and provided hand sewn hats for the Children's Hospital.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, William Lloyd Cogdill, Jr.; sons, Garry Cogdill (Sharon) of Lexington, and William Lloyd Cogdill, III of Lexington; sister, Sylvia Stevens; grandchildren, Allison, Bradley, Courtney, Kirstin, and Mia; and two great grandchildren, Riley Kate and Banks. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her sister, Eva and her brother, Jinx.
The Cogdill family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by her dear friends Amelia Woodsen and Pat Watson, along with her caregivers, Patti Cavanaugh, Patricia Bishop, Lakie Vann, and Nita Fleming.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo, S.C. 29063 or Providence Home, P.O. Box 3188, Columbia, S.C. 29203 for the Chapel Building fund.

Unfortunately I never met Katherine but my condolences go out to her family. Cogdill is an unusual surname and Billy Cogdill was my Dad. I also love Sudoku puzzles. Royal Jehu Cogdill is my ggggggg grandfather. May peace be with you all during this time.

It is with deepest regret that my family learned of the passing of Mrs. Cogdill. We will definitely keep the Cogdill family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. While I only met Mrs. Cogdill a couple of times, I was so impressed with her demeanor and kindness reflected in her behavior. She was a very sweet lady as is her husband, Bill.

My family also wants to thank the Cogdill family for their devotion and dedication to Providence Home. I am sure Mrs. Cogdill sacrificed many hours and evenings while Mr. Cogdill was serving the ministry.

May the Lord be with you all! God love ya!

Gary so sorry to hear of your moms passing but rejoicing in the truth that because of her faith in Christ she is now more alive than she has ever been.

I have many fond memories of your Mom back in the skating rink days. She was always such a pleasant person to be around and talk to. I am sorry for your loss and pray that God will comfort you in the days ahead.

To Bill and the Cogdill family,
My name is Billy Lide and I will be a stranger to most of you but I wanted to tell you all what a pleasure it was to know Kathy as a customer and as a friend. We met while I was overseeing the construction of her and Bill's house in Lexington. Kathy was always friendly to me and everyone she met. Her kindness could light up the room. For years afterward she and Bill would greet me in public and remind of the good times we shared. I am sorry for the loss to the Cogdill family, and to Bill in particular, but please comfort your sadness with the happiness that comes from knowing that heaven will shine a little brighter with her addition. Love and regards, Billy.
