Kenneth Peterson Obituary
September 28, 1958 - December 31, 2023
Camden, South Carolina - A memorial service to celebrate the life of Kenneth Richard "Pete" Peterson will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Kornegay Funeral Home, 1112 Fair Street, Camden, SC. Reverends David Stratford and Steve Fields will officiate. Visitation with family will be held after the service. Memorials may be made to Food for the Soul, 110A E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC, 29020.
Pete, husband of Joy Fields Peterson, died on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was the son of the late Barbara Cartwright Peterson Lee and Kenneth Victor Peterson.
In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by his daughter, Bethany Peterson of Camden; son, Timothy Peterson of Camden; sisters Cheryl Sumrak of Silva, NC and Sue Price (Duane) of Ormond Beach, FL; brothers Kevin Peterson of Lugoff and Keith Peterson (Stephanie) of N. Fort Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother-in-law Bruce Sumrak and sister-in-law Patty Peterson.
He was also loved and cherished by the Fields family. Predeceased by father-in-law Oscar Fields and nephew Wesley Hutto.
Pete was well-known for his drive to help others. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard before beginning a fulfilling career in EMS and nursing. He touched the lives of countless people while working at Kershaw County Medical Center and Pruitt Health Tanglewood.
His caring nature extended to his passions as well. He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family. He also tended to his garden and raised chickens, ducks, and quails. He often donated the fruits (and eggs) of his labor to Food for the Soul.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
