She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1957 and held a Masters Degree in Art Education from the University of South Carolina.
During her career, she was a public and private school teacher, Director of Roanoke Fine Arts Center in Roanoke, VA, Director of Art Education in Richland County School District 2 in Columbia, SC, President of Oxford Oil Company in Seneca, SC, and the owner of Oxford Realty in Seneca, SC.
She is survived by a son, Cobb and wife Denise Oxford of Anderson, SC, Cris and husband David Boggs of Central, SC, Meg and husband Fred James of Greer, SC, grandchildren, Daniel James, Kelsey Oxford and Andrew Boggs.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, GA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca.
