Roger Fortner Obituary

Roger M. Fortner ELGIN Funeral service for Roger Mack Fortner, 70, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Buster Morris and the Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation. Mr. Fortner passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Born in Clarksville, Ga., he was the son of the late Clark Miles and Jessie Ruth Cash Fortner. He served in the United States Army National Guard and retired from DuPont. Roger was one of the "Fortner Boys" that sang gospel music. Mr. Fortner was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and playing on the church softball team. He formerly served on the Board of Directors for May Plant Credit Union. Surviving are his wife, Marcelle Bradley Fortner; children, Toby Fortner (Jennifer) of Villa Hills, Ky., and Alisha Lowrance (Eddie) of Blythewood; stepsons, Kyle Tosh of Elgin, and Wade Tosh (Chris) of Camden; brothers, Jack C. Fortner (Carolyn) of Elgin, and Bruce Fortner (Brenda) of Elgin; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, LeRoy Fortner. Sign the online register at www.powersfuneralhome.net.
