ROGER CAPPS
EDWARDSVILLE — Roger Lee Capps, 73, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, due to complications from ALS.
Roger was born May 24, 1943, in Nebo, Illinois. He played basketball for Doane College and Peru State College in Nebraska. Roger was a retired math teacher and coach in Alton, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Calame), whom he married in 1969; a daughter and son-in-law, Cristin and Kenny Choat of Edwardsville; two sisters, Sharon Roberts of Alton and Debra Gross of Grafton, and his grandson Eli, who was the light of his life. He was preceeded in death by his parents, William and Hazel (Goltz) Capps.
Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of his life will occur at a later date. Memorials may be made to Pets for Vets at http://www.petsforvets.com./ Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Capps was a great math teacher at AHS! He helped foster my love of math and analytical abilities, as he'd give me extra problems to challenge myself. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. May it comfort you in knowing that he left a lasting impact on many lives.

I had Mr. Capps at West Junior for a math class. He brought in the FIRST calculator any of us had ever seen. Still remember that. Very nice man and a great teacher. Thank you. Connie House
