Albert Herman

Albert "Al" Herman, 86, of Roaring Brook Twp., died Christmas evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedarcrest, Allentown, after an illness. His beloved wife of 66 years, Eleanor "Ellie" Isdebski Herman, preceded him in death on Feb. 3.

Born in Nanticoke on Jan. 20, 1931, and son of the late Cecelia and William Herman, Al was a graduate of the former Nanticoke High School. While raising his family he worked for Scranton Engraving Co. before serving as the art director for Scranton Label for over 20 years before his retirement. Of Roman Catholic faith, he and his wife were members of St. Eulalia's Church Parish in Moscow.

Al was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. However, his greatest passion was photography. From his family to wildlife, Al's camera knew no bounds. His photographs will serve as a fond remembrance of Al for years to come. He will be forever missed.

He is survived by his son and best buddy, Richard (Gary) Herman and longtime partner, Diane Gilchrist, of Moosic; brother, Robert Herman and wife, Nancy, of Kingston; four adoring grandchildren, Lindsey Spano and husband, P.J.; Ryan Herman and fiance, Jennifer Wrabel; Danielle Bicaca and husband, Glen; and Eric Chabal; five great-grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia, Valentina, Grayson and Logan; sister-in-law, Joanne Furek and husband, George, of Muncy; and nieces and nephews.

His daughter, Diane Chabal, also preceded Al in death.

A blessing service is scheduled for Saturday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Saturday from 11 a.m. until services.
