Anthony D. Cerra, 72, of Scranton, died Tuesday at Beebe Hospital, Lewes, Delaware, after a brief illness.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Anthony and Ellen Lynch Cerra, he was a teacher in the Lakeland School District for more than 30 years. A loving and devoted father, son, brother and grandfather, Anthony was a friend to many and enjoyed sports, dancing and umpiring. He was a lifetime avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and enjoyed traveling to Florida every year to watch the nation's top high school basketball athletes play at the City of the Palms tournament.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Sharp and her husband, James Sharp, Lewes, Delaware; Joellen Morgan and her husband, James Morgan, Scranton; three grandchildren, Grace Sharp, Nathan Morgan and Madison Morgan; a sister, Ellen Healey; and nieces, Laura Heggemeier and Stephanie Rode, of Fort Myers, Florida; an aunt, Colleen Doroshenko, New Jersey; and a host of cousins, friends; and his favorite dancing partner, Rosemarie Grandinetti.
The funeral will be Wednesday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
A viewing will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
