Bruce W. Ott of South Abington died Wednesday evening at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Janet Pierotti. The couple married in 1966.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Milton and Gertrude Hughes Ott. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Our Lady of the Snows Church with his wife for many years. Before his retirement, he was a systems programmer for MetLife, also working for more than 35 years at the Trane Company and Emery Worldwide. He also served on the South Abington Parks and Recreation Committee for many years.
Bruce was a man who loved his family deeply. He often enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at sporting and school events, as well as fishing and biking with his family. He let his loved ones know that love sacrifices for their friends, quitting is never an option, and without exception, to always follow through.
Surviving are two daughters, Dana Siebecker and her husband, Kevin of South Abington, and Maura Negvesky and her husband, Darren of Jessup; three grandchildren, Ryan and Chase Siebecker, and Kaia Negvesky; two nieces, Tara Brown and Tara Pierotti; and one nephew, William Galella.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Lou Galella.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mountain View Care Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness and excellent care of Bruce.
A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor of Our Lady of the Snows.
Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or at alz.org.

Janet, I am so sorry to hear about Bruce. I remember that he was in the very early stages at the last reunion we were together. As you know he was one of my dearest friends. I could fill many pages telling of the good times we had together. I have often thought of those times and always remember them with a smile and an occasional laugh. After I moved and we lost touch I looked forward to being with you both at our reunions. I've missed him and have had him in my prayers for several years. I know how much he loved you and the girls and how proud he was of his grandchildren. I'm at least glad to know that he is at peace reunited with those he loved who went before him and surrounded by the love of his God.

Dear Ott Family:
I would like to express my deepest condolences on Bruce's passing. I remember Bruce as a fun guy to be around.
He had a great wit and sense of humor about him. It was always fun to in his company. I remember his sister Mary Lou and Billy Gallela fondly from WSHS. Those were the days my friend. May you all find peace, love and comfort among family and friends during these sad and trying times. May Bruce rest in peace in God's hands and cherish his memory.
