Joseph Kosierowski Obituary

Joseph F. Kosierowski, 79, of Moosic, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023. His wife was the late Nadine Kosierowski, who passed away on Jan. 14, 2019. Joseph and Nadine were happily married for over 48 years.

Born in Avoca, Pennsylvania on April 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Francis Kosierowski and Jean Kosierowski. He was a 1961 graduate of St. John's High School in Pittston and later graduated from Lackawanna Junior College.

Joe was a United States Army veteran who served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1963 through 1966. He also proudly served as a state trooper for over 25 years with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). He completed his entire career as a patrol trooper, serving as a road dawg on the front lines for the PSP, before retiring from Troop "R" in Dunmore in 1991. Following retirement from the PSP, he worked an additional 17 years as a security guard for Knight Services in Wilkes-Barre before ultimately ending his career in law enforcement in 2013.

Sports was a big part of Joe's life. He was an avid golfer and loved following his favorite sports teams: the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Notre Dame football. He enjoyed being a member of the American Legion Post 558 in Minooka. He also volunteered his time for many years as a coach with the Moosic Little League. He was a longtime member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Avoca.

He is survived by his son, attorney Joseph Kosierowski and wife, Bridget Malloy Kosierowski; and his four grandchildren: Jacob, Margaret, Anna and Noah. In addition to his beloved wife, Nadine, he was predeceased in death by his brothers, John Kosierowski and Michael Kosierowski.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict's Church, 1849 Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit. Honor guard services will follow the Mass, services will be provided by the members of the Pennsylvania State Police.

I wish to send my condolences to Joe´s family. I got to know him as a security guard at the Stegmaier building. He shared his Philly papers with me daily, along with accurate critiques of its teams. Rest peacefully in Yankee heaven Joe.

I met Joe when I was employed by SSA in the Stegmaier Building in Wilkes-Barre where he worked in Security. He was a great guy & we had several interesting conversations, especially since we both grew up in Avoca. Sending condolences & prayers to his family. Fly high Joe!

I knew Joe as a fellow PSO, when I worked in the old Stegmaier building. We all loved him, including all the Federal employees who knew him. It was a pleasure to know him and work next to him. My sincere condolences to the family. May he RIP. God bless you KOZ!
