Linda Barnes Obituary

Linda L. Barnes, 65, of West Pittston, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lois Banks Gard. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Pittston. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and a graduate of the Community Medical Center School of Nursing. Before her retirement, Linda was employed as a registered nurse in the Operating Room at Community Medical Center in Scranton from 1973 to 1999.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dr. Willis C. Barnes, of West Pittston; children, Melissa Lavery and her husband, John, of North Wales, Pa.; Curtis Barnes and his wife, Priscilla, of Reading, Pa.; Rebecca Barnes and wife, Elizabeth, of Scranton; Jeannette Barnes and husband, Andrew Steen, of York Haven, Pa.; and Willis Barnes and wife, Que Tram, of Throop; brother, Ralph Gard, of Scranton; granddaughter, Alexandra Barnes; and several cousins.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. The Rev. David Walker will officiate. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church Friday morning. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. Interment will be in Pittston Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Scared Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA 18510; or the First United Methodist Church, 408 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston, PA 18643.

I knew of Linda and what a lovely lady she was.

I am so sorry for their loss. I know she was cared for in the most loving way.
