Dearest Fran & all of your children,
My very deepest sympathy to all of you on Mark's passing.
This man had a neverending ability to take life as it came. Mark always kept his dry humor close in his pocket-ready to use when needed-be it a person or a problem-he always took the worst of a situation and lightened it. I'll never forget that look..his eyes twinkled, his stogie pursed in the corner of his mouth and displaying that grin, and making some humorous remark!!
A great husband, provider to you kids, businessman & friend.
Our families were so close for some forty years and Mark & Patty were like my own. So many good memories-Mark eating the steak from the real 'doggie box' from dinner theater, our family trip to Disney in the pickup...the chili suppers on Xmas Eve...so many fun, memorable times!
May his wit, his work ethic and his love of family, live on- in all of you kids & your children.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew & loved him. OH-and should you see a big ray of sunshine beaming from the sky? Smile, because it's Mark... smiling down on all of you!
Loving thoughts, Carter family!

"Uncle Mark" was a very special man and will be missed.
He was a man that liked to pretend he was an old grouch but we all knew better. I'll never forget his warped sense of humor.... he was a True "joy" to wait on! (both at Edgewood and The Vets Club)
To Fran, Marky, Mahme, Dennis, Peggy, George, and all the rest.....
My thoughts and Prayers are with you all!

Fran and family, My deepest sympathy as you mourn your beloved Mark. I will always remember the times spent at your house when I stayed overnight with Teresa at the houses on the Silvara Road and then in Black Walnut. We had so much fun and Mark, with his gruff voice, pretending to be mad at us for giggling but then he would smooth it over with that big wide smile that made his eyes just dance with delight!
My first "real" job was as a gas station attendant when you and Mark hired me at the age of 16 at your gas station/restaurant in Black Walnut. I got to work with Linda Button Millard and between you, Mark and Linda, I learned so much about life. Those were great days. I always learned something new every day when Mark was around. And I learned to laugh a lot because he was always making a wise crack.
I will remember those great times, that wonderful smile, those dancing eyes and that cigar hanging out of his mouth as Mark would tilt his head to make yet another comment.
May your memories be what carries you as you reminisce about a wonderful lifetime with this great man.
Love to you all,
Patti Warner Tewksbury
