Michael "Mike" Anthony Stefanik, 81, of Peckville, Pa., passed away after a brief illness on Sept. 7, 2023. He was born on Dec. 3, 1941, to the late George and Jane Sherwood Stefanik. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie D. Bretz Stefanik; and their daughter, Karla J. Stefanik. Mike had a larger-than-life presence and cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberlee Nackley; son-in-law, George Nackley; and grandchildren, Georgia Nackley and Ryan Nackley.
Mike attended Olyphant High School and was a self-taught individual. Throughout his life he pursued several career paths before settling in the insurance industry.
Mike was a man of many passions and had an adventurous spirit. He had a hard time sitting still and was always busy. He indulged his love for travel by exploring various destinations. He split his time between Pennsylvania and Maryland, spending countless hours with family and friends on his beloved boat. His passion for life was contagious, and his passing has left a huge void in the lives of many.
A Mass to honor and remember Mike will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church at Holy Cross Parish, 200 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, Pa., on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023. Viewing to be held at 9 a.m. in the church. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Montdale, Pa.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Mike as a devoted family man, a spirited adventurer and a friend who touched the lives of many. His memory will forever live on in our hearts. Godspeed.

Michael was part of what made our vacation home in Ocean City MD seem more like home. He always had a funny boat story to tell Pat, Samantha, and me. Most of those boat stories involved something that went wrong with the boat, but he was always so light hearted about the situation. He seemed to take the sometimes tough or sour realities of life and dealt with them in good humor and patience. He always greeted us with a smile and was a huge part of why Ocean City was our Happy Place for so many years.
With loving memories, “Team Bennett”
