Richard Burge Obituary

Richard W. Burge, 71, of Peckville, died Thursday at home. His wife of 45 years was Ann DeRiggi Burge, who died on March 12, 2011.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Hazel Young Burge. He was a graduate of the University of Scranton, where he received a degree in accounting and also became a certified public accountant. He was a self employed accountant and financial advisor. He resided in Peckville, with his wife and family the last 40 years. He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Burge Jr., Peckville; and Mark Burge and wife, Laura, Carlisle; a daughter, Karla Carlucci and husband, Robert, Clarks Summit; and three grandchildren, Alexia, Brayden and Macie Burge; sisters, Gwen Fletcher, Scranton; and Joan LeBarron, Connecticut; nieces and nephews.

Heartbroken by the loss of his wife, Richard is now at peace with his loving wife Ann. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A generous and giving person to all, his children cannot find the words to express their gratitude for him always being there for them and supporting them in their endeavors.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Petit Family Foundation, P.O. Box 310, Plainville, CT 0602-0310.
