Steven Blanchard

Steven Blanchard, 57, of Dickson City, died Saturday evening at home after a brief illness. His widow is the former Debby Kucha. They had been married 37 years.

A lifelong resident of Dickson City, son of the late Anthony and Shirley Wilshire Blanchard, he attended Dickson City schools and Mid Valley School District schools. In his earlier years, Steve worked as an automotive technician at Johnny's Garage in Dickson City and Burne Oldsmobile. Before his injury in 1987, he was the owner and proprietor of "Steve Dirt Garage." When he was younger, he played in a local pool league and shot darts. He loved hunting and fishing.

He was a loving father and wonderful husband.

Also surviving are two sons, Steven A. Blanchard and companion, Deanna Mushrush, Dickson City; and Joshua Blanchard and wife, Amber, Fort Worth, Texas. He was a great DooDah to his two grandchildren, Joshua Edward and Elizabeth Marie Blanchard. Also surviving are three sisters, Linda Randal, Susan Popeck and Tina Zawisky; three brothers, Tony Blanchard, John Blanchard and Christopher Blanchard; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Edward Kucha; sister-in-law, Tina Popeck; and brother-in-law, Edward Kucha.

Friends may call Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Yurkanin Funeral Home, 1115 Main St., Dickson City.
