Tucker Schimelfenig passed away on Saturday morning after an unimaginable tragedy. Only 23 years young, he was a native of Clarks Summit and lived in Philadelphia.
At Hershey Medical Center on June 23, 1999, Tucker was born alongside his twin brother and inseparable lifelong best friend, Christian, to adoring parents, Gary and Nancy (O'Hora) Schimelfenig of Clarks Summit. A 2018 graduate of Abington Heights High School, Tucker was a vital part of the school's only ever PIAA Class 5 state basketball championship. A natural athlete, he was also a member of the AHHS track and field team. His demeanor was relaxed and his heart was full of kindness. Simply said, Tucker was a genuinely good person and just being in his presence was enough to love him.
Tucker went on to study mechanical engineering at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in 2022 he became a mechanical engineer for McCloskey Mechanical Contractors Inc., where he was currently employed and eager to begin his career. The countless accomplishments he achieved and the many deep relationships he made with others in such a short period of time were certainly admirable.
Along with his lifetime love for basketball, Tucker loved all sports, both playing as an athlete and watching as a spectator. Never one to miss a good time with friends, above all else came his close-knit family. He adored his parents and brothers, Christian, Alex, Matthew and Ian.
Tucker and his twin brother, Christian, were blessed not only by the love of their own family but also that of their best friend, Michael Comerford, and his family. Inseparable since grade school at Our Lady of Peace, the three were hardly ever apart, so much so that they were affectionately known around Clarks Summit as "the triplets."
Along with his parents, Tucker is survived by his three brothers, Alex Schimelfenig and wife, Lyndsey, of Scott Twp.; Matthew Schimelfenig and fiancée, Augusta, of Philadelphia; and Ian Schimelfenig and Caroline Passalino, of Chicago, Ill.; a nephew, Zayne Mark Schimelfenig; and a niece and goddaughter, Autumn Rose Schimelfenig; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Tucker was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Shirly (McGeever) Schimelfenig and William and Rose (Lally) O'Hora.
On Monday, April 24, Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn will celebrate a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial for both Tucker and Christian at Our Lady of Snows Parish, 301 State St. in Clarks Summit. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in West Scranton. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
On Sunday, April 23, family and friends may pay their respects to both Tucker and Christian at the Church of St. Benedict, 1849 Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit, 18411, from 3 to 6 p.m. where celebrating their lives is a prerequisite.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian and Tucker Schimelfenig Memorial Foundation, c/o any branch of PNC Bank.

I had the pleasure of knowing Tucker since joining the same fraternity as him. From day one, Tucker made me feel loved and appreciated, and treated me like his own little brother. I spent countless hours hanging out with Tucker, from playing sports to doing charity work. He made an incredible impact on my life, and helped me mature significantly as a person. To his parents and family, I pray for you during this hard time, and hope one day you may find peace.

I only knew these fine, young men through their brother Ian. And although I regret never having the opportunity to get to know them, I have a sense that they had much in common with him and so, I know what great guys they were. Words and actions are completely inadequate for this utterly tragic event. I pray that the family finds strength, courage and solace and that somehow, some way, some bit of good comes of this overwhelmingly horrific accident. God bless the Schimelfenig family.

There are truly no adequate words for this beyond letting you know that we are praying for you and your family and reminding you that Tucker and Christian were loved by all who met them. They were spoke of often by both my children who were fortunate enough to be in their lives and touched by their passions and energy. That energy will be with everyone always. God Bless.

I live in the Lehigh Valley & was born and raised in Scranton. I still read the Times Tribune and saw the article on these young men. I put my hand over their picture and prayed that God welcomed them with open arms , and that although they will be deeply missed on earth, their eyes have seen God! You will see them again~ Know, however, that I am so very sorry for your loss~
