Parry G. Baer, 90, of Easthampton, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013, at the home of his daughter, Jane Baer-Leighton of Hadley.

Parry was born in Croswell, Michigan, May 31, 1922, the son of Parry Sr. and Jennie (Gray) Baer.

After graduating from Croswell High School in 1940, Parry was briefly employed at Mueller Brass Co. in Port Huron, Michigan. He then became the Superintendent of the Croswell Electric and Water Departments and served in that capacity for over forty years.  He was well-known for implementing many electrical production and distribution innovations in Croswell over the course of his tenure and he was honored for his work by the City of Croswell, Michigan Municipal Electrical Association, and Detroit Edison when he retired in 1986. He was the past President and Treasurer of Michigan Municipal Electric Association, a member of the Croswell Lion's Club, and Masonic Lodge #469. He also served 35 years as a volunteer fireman for the City of Croswell. He was a lifetime member of the Croswell United Methodist Church.

Parry lived a productive and rewarding life in Croswell. He and his wife, Helen M. (Grout) Baer, enjoyed raising their family in this closely knit community of family and friends. In 2000, Parry and Helen moved to Easthampton, Massachusetts. Mrs. Baer passed away in 2001.

Besides his daughter, Jane, he is survived by one son, CSM Parry L. Baer (retired) of Washington, DC; a brother, George L. Baer of Flushing, MI; one sister, Helen M. (Baer) Perry of Waterford, MI; and five grandchildren: Jacqueline G. Leighton, Natalie B. Leighton, Jonathan P. Leighton, Julie N. Baer, and Jodie D. Baer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margery J. (Baer) Cramer.

A memorial service will be held at the Croswell United Methodist Church, on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 10:00 AM. Committal will be at the Croswell Cemetery.
