Eva McCauley Ray

BURLINGTON – Eva McCauley Ray, 91, of Burlington passed from this life at the Hospice Home on Monday, March 26, 2018.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late William A. "W.A." Ray, Jr., and the daughter of the late Robert Edwin and Bertha Murray McCauley. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church.

Eva loved her family dearly. Her friends were a valued part of her life as they played bridge and traveled together. She was an avid golfer, often winning tournaments while making friends across the state. She retired as a customer service representative from CCB Bank and later Suntrust Bank.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Ray Holt and husband, Tim, of Burlington; and two sons, Michael E. Ray and wife, Annette, of Burlington, and William A. "Rusty" Ray, III and wife, Janet, of Durham; grandchildren, Christopher Ray and wife Kaley of Holly Springs NC , Taylor Ray Curtis and husband Ben of Colorado Springs CO, Jonathan Ray, Greyson Ray, and McCauley Ray, all of Durham; great-grandchild William Robert Ray; and her brother, Ralph McCauley of Burlington.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Jimmy L Nickelston.

Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Thursday, at Rich & Thompson prior to the funeral service.
