Michael J. Davies, Ph.D.
Longtime Norwalk Resident
Michael J. Davies, Ph.D., beloved husband of Katherine Brubaker Davies passed away peacefully on July, 23, 2013 with his family by his side. Michael was born on December 21, 1941 in Wellington, New Zealand and came to the U.S. in the 1970s to study.
Michael was a clinical psychologist with an active practice in Norwalk. His early life and education took place in New Zealand, followed by academic training at St. Mary's in Ballarat, Australia in order to become a Redemptorist Priest. Subsequently, he left the priesthood and completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University. Michael did post graduate training at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy where he also taught for many years. He was a past president and a member of Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology (CSPP). Most recently he has done study and speaking related to Jacques Lacan in both NYC and Paris. Michael was an avid tennis player, gardener and traveler.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include their daughter Christina and their son Adam. His sisters are Mary Porter in NZ and Gabrielle McIvor of Australia; in-laws are Monsignor George Brubaker of Newark, Delaware, Theresa and Stephen Ullman of Hamden, CT.
Friends are invited to greet the Davies family on August 3 between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Norwalk Inn, 99 East Ave. Norwalk. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we welcome sending donations addressed to the Notre Dame Convalescent Home at 76 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT 06851 or to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation (on line at cjdfoundation.org).

A great man and his presence will always be missed. From a patient's standpoint, Dr. Davies had a significant impact on my family and me over the past 20 years. I will always be grateful for his insights and advice. My sincerest condolences to his family. I hope to be able to make the memorial service.
