Richard Lee East Sr.

Richard East Obituary

Mr. Richard Lee East Sr., 49, of 719 E. Main St., passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at 7:27 a.m.

A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Onda Hill East, who survives, and the son of the late Vester M. East, father, and Thelma Vestal East, mother, and Robert E. East, stepfather, both who survive. He was a former supervisor for a textile industry and attended First Baptist Church of Haw River.

In addition to his wife of their home and mother and stepfather, of Martinsville, Va., survivors include three daughters, Trisha East, Danielle East and Liz East, all of the home; two sons, Richard L. East Jr. and Richard L. "Trae" East III, both of the home; two sisters, Ruby Hargis and husband Wayne, of Burlington, and Alice Chavis, of Parkton; one brother, Charles M. East and wife Beverly, of Randleman; four grandchildren; and a special niece, Shenna Hill, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Christy East, and his brother, James East.

A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Haw River on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Walter Jones with the family receiving friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Haw River, 508 E. Main St., Haw River, NC 27258.
