LaVerne Chapman Obituary
Mrs. LaVerne Laborde Chapman, age 72, of Marksville, passed away at her residence in Marksville on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Francis Chapman of Marksville, 1 son, Rowdy Lemoine and wife Donna of Humble, Texas, 2 daughters, Sabrina Brant & husband Keith of Durango,Colorado, Jodie Lemoine and Darren Poche of Sunset, 1 brother, Dr. Cliffe C. Laborde, Jr. and wife Mickey of Lake Charles, Father of her children, Richard Lemoine of Mansura, 4 Grandchildren, Derek Lemoine, Courtney Lemoine, Aniya Brant and Raimee Brant.
A private memorial service will be held for Mrs. Chapman at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

I befriended her daughter Jodie in the 4th grade and together, the three of us shared the greatest of friendships, full of adventure, real conversation, and a bottomless well of humor that generated the deepest belly-laughs, that for me, literally kept me alive and sane as a child, teen, and young adult growing up in Marksville. I have never since that time met anyone quite like Ms. Laverne -- a mother devoted to her children, and the only mom we (friends) talked to when our own parents and the world around us seemed estranged to us. She was a true friend and a surrogate mother to me as well as one of the most influential adults in my growing up. I send my love to Jodie, Sabrina, Rowdy, Donna, Courtney, and Derrick, and to the remaining family members whom I have not met. I hope to see you all soon.
