On February 26th, Cassandra Hundemer, mother of three, passed away at the age of 80. "Sandy " or "Cass " was born March 24, 1942 in Norwich, Kansas, a small town outside of Wichita, to Adelbert and Georgia Leidy. She grew up the oldest of four siblings in Wichita and attended Wichita University before moving to San Jose, California in 1964.

Her first child, Jim, was born a year after she married, followed by Terry and then Christine. After camping a few summers in Downieville and loving the area, the family moved to a small farm on the North San Juan Ridge in 1973. Sandy enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and tending to her chickens and goats. Occupationally, she had many jobs from her own landscaping service, to a grocery store clerk at Mother Truckers, a real estate agent with Robert Gamage Realty, to managing a mortgage loan office for Freedom Financial Funding Corporation.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother Georgia (Nadine), father Adelbert, and brother Daniel. She is survived by her three children, Jim (Deanne), Terry (Courtney) and Christine (Jeff); seven grandchildren, Darrel, Chelsey (Patrick), Jordan, Tyler, Justin, Megan, Nate; three great grandchildren, Benjamin, Devina, Wyatt; sisters, Doreen and Millie; and numerous relatives around the country.
