To the Family of John:
I send you all my most sincere thoughts and condolences. I fully planned to speak to each of you but a miscommunication keep me from the services. I truly am sorry for that.
I want to relate to you one of the incidents that captured my great respect for John..and there were many.)
IT was class night and John was president of his class. He had welcomed his audience to the program. Suddenly he arose, stepped to the microphone and said "excuse Me, I will be right back." Eyes followed him to the back of the gym where one of his classmates was standing in the doorway looking very distressed as she had been delayed by having to walk quite a distance to attend the ceremony, and now was too late to walk in with her class. With great presence of mind, John hurried to her side, and with even greater class, he took her by the arm and, head held high, walked her down the aisle to her seat. I still admire that style that was John's, and wanted to share the story with you.
To any to all of you, if there is anything I can do to ease these days of sorrow, I am as close as the phone.
You are in my heart.
Love,
Mrs. Banker

Miranda, Tom & the entire Peabody family:
I was truly saddened to hear about John's death. John always had an encouraging word for me both as a kid and as an adult when I would run into him in town. I have great memories of him from my years playing soccer at Wheeler. He had the perfect disposition for working with kids. I can still hear him saying "Gentlemen" when he wanted to get our attention on the field.
I am sorry for your loss. I know he leaves a big hole in your hearts. I will certainly be praying for God's grace and peace as you grieve.

John Bod, the personification of Wheeler High spirit. Always there as a friend and team mate, never giving up when the chips were down. One of Wheelers soccer legends in the back field. You were there John when it all started off with Tommy Hurd. We played our hearts out, and you were there to encourage us as we played in that low golden light that use to paint the field on those autumn days so long ago… but wasn't it really only just yesterday… What a joy to meet up with you just a few years ago with our dear friend Don Lonsway when you were working over in Portsmouth. It was as if no time had passed at all. There is something very special that we all experienced in those years that we listened to Simon and Garfunkel, and you John were one of those people that was at the very center of it all for us. We will meet again old friend, but until then we will remember you and smile. Much love to your family.

My memories of John are of a great guy with a winning disposition all the time, but my fondest memory will always be him showing up at my door on the second day of my teaching career and begging me to help out his class by being a chaperone for the weekend dance--I said "yes" and it led to 35 years of dances and proms and advisorships that are among my fondest memories. For Maranda, Tommy, and all his sisters, take comfort in knowing that he left here to be with "Mom" and in all the wonderful memories you shared. Sympathy and love to you all!

John Peabody was a very very caring and giving man. I know this because he was my soccer for many years at Wheeler High School .
I had never heard an ill thing said of him and in the years I knew him from being my coach I can certainly see why.
He will be greatly missed .
Rest in Peace COACH Peabody.

Tom, Roz and family,
OMG Our deepest sympathy goes out to you all and the community of friends who knew John. Take comfort in knowing he is at peace. John and I were good friends since the 3rd grade. My best memories with John were running laps after soccer when we'd quit because of darkness - unfinished ! The phrase " the Peabod shuffle" came out of those runs. John will be sadly missed, but will be in our hearts forever.

To the Peabody Family,
I grew up knowing John thru my sister Cindy who was a classmate of his. Would run into him down in the yard at EB from time to time and would sit at the picnic table in the shop area he worked and catch up for a few on life and family. His wonderful smile and kind heart will be missed. May God comfort you at this time of sorrow.

You were an Angel in the flesh sent to us from up above. You touched our very hearts and souls and taught us about love.
When you went away, you left a void that time will never fill, yet every moment of every day, we feel your presence still.
Though tears may still flow and nothing seems the same, we were truly blessed to know you and so very glad you came.
