Lawrence Whitford Obituary
He was born in Slocum, RI, on September 30. 1922 the son of Earl Roy Colebut and Myra Whitford and his stepfather Earl Whitford.
He worked in Boston, MA as a heavy equipment operator for Flately Construction for 25 years retiring in 1988.
Lawrence is survived by his children Lawrence E. Whitford of Lisbon, Lawrence (Pompei) Hazard, Alice Munyan, Evelyn Hazard-Burke and Cherie Girard all of Ledyard, 28 grandchildren and many many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Myra Perry of Ashaway RI and by his stepchildren Clayton Alexander of Richmond RI, Sharon Alexander and Sherleen Rose both of Charlestown RI, and Cheryll Walmsley of East Providence RI.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his children Roger Whitford, Ida Rounesville, Larry Alexander, Sandra Coleman and Beverly Whitford-Hayes, as well as siblings, Earl Roy Colebut Jr. Vernon Colebut, Earl Whitford, John Brown, Arline Phelmetta, Eunice Mitchell, Virginia Whitford- Brown, and Lois Whitford-Brown.
Lawrence's family will greet relatives and friends at the Mashantucket Spiritual Center, 938 Shewville Road, Ledyard on Wednesday, February 23, from 10 to 11:00am and a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in the Spiritual Burial Ground, Ledyard. To share a message of condolence or remembrance please visit www.dinotofuneral.com.

Mr. Whitford as I use to call him ,,,was a very unique and engaging individual. Since my early childhood playing on the streets of Providence,RI with his late son Larry, I respected his presence. He had great wisdom, character and reverence.
My condolences to Cherie,my daughter Sequoia,Shanna,Mike,Jeff.
I know,,,your Grandfather is in the Greatest Places in the Universe with no more pain or suffering!
