Robert Vredenburg Obituary
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Lydia Vredenburg.
Robert was employed as a teacher at Chariho High School for 26 years. Upon his retirement from the high school, he taught at CCRI and Chariho Adult Education. He was a longtime member of the DCCCP where he had served as a Deacon.
Robert was an active member of the Mystic Woodcarvers and the Westerly Senior Center. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid gardener. However, Bob's greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Judith, Robert leaves behind his three children, Susan Haley and husband Timothy, Pamela Gersbeck, and Robert M. Vredenburg, Jr. and wife Sharon; and brother George Vredenburg and his wife Kim. Bob also leaves his seven grandchildren, Tim, Chelsea, John, Paul, Luke, Anna and Jude; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Apple Rehab Clipper and to Dr. Debra Furtado, for their exceptional care.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:30p.m. to 7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 11am at Dunn's Corners Community Church Presbyterian, 221 Post Road, Westerly. Burial will follow at First Hopkinton Cemetery in Ashaway. Mr. Vredenburg was the only history teacher who ever got me interested in history. He had an amazing way of making history come to life. I still think oh his class fondly 20 something years ago. Sending love and condolences to his family.

Mr. Vredenburg crossed my mind this morning, and then I read this. He enforced the importance of history on my mind all those years ago when he was my History teacher! He had a great personality.....
