Rose Marie (Lidestri) Gomes

Rose Marie (Lidestri) Gomes, 78, late of Stillman Avenue, Pawcatuck, died on Feb. 7, 2008 in the Groton Regency, Groton. She was the widow of the late Antone J. Gomes, Sr.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Sanquedolce) Lidestri.
"Rosie" had been employed as a counter person at the former Higgins Pharmacy, and had also been previously employed at Gulino's Bakery.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Pawcatuck, where she was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the Stonington Democratic Town Committee. She enjoyed the "Sport of Kings" and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Surviving, she leaves four sons and daughters-in-law: John A. and Corinne Gomes, Antone J. Gomes, Jr. and his wife Caron, and Chris M. & Leslie Gomes (all of Pawcatuck), and Michael J. and Debbie Gomes, of Westerly; two sisters, Mary Turner and Antoinette Johnston, both of Pawcatuck; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Joseph Lidestri.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy, which will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck.
