I am truly sad to hear of Ed's death. He was a fine person that I knew when we were both students at Madison Co. High School. We became friends when we both took an after school course offered by Edgar Puryear. Professor Puryear, a Princeton graduate, offered the course for a small number of 'college-bound' students. I remember both Ed and I realizing how lucky we were to be taking such a course. Professor Puryear really made us work! I think Ed must have graduated a year ahead of me but he offered to be my Prom date. I was so impressed by the gorgeous orchid corsage he brought me and, of course, he was driving a really cool car as well. We had a wonderful time and I have never forgotten his kindness to me. I had moved to Madison Co. from Northern Virginia and I never really felt I 'fit in.' I went on to have a wonderful life as did he. I have lived in Australia for 35 years with my Australian husband. I am retired now and love travelling, looking after my orchids, feeding kookaburras in my yard and visiting Virginia every other year. To Ed's family, I would just like to say Judge Edward DeJarnette Berry was a man who made a difference in my life and in this world. Vale Ed.

Dear Berry Family,
Honorable Judge Berry had been my judge for a long time. He was a very nice, respectful, caring, loving man. My parents started going to court while I was young. Judge Berry helped me turn my life around. I have full custody of my children now. I was always happy to go in front of him in court because I knew he would never throw the book at me! I´m sad to see him go home to heaven but I´m reassured that he´s taking good care of my twins that are in heaven. My hearts hurts to see his passing.

Mrs. Berry and family, I was fortunate to bring cases in front of Judge Berry for many years. We would talk about things going on in the area and try to figure out how we could help. Judge Berry was kind and friendly. I send you all my prayers and condolences. Great man.

Mrs. Berry and family:
So sorry for your loss. Mr. Berry was a very special person. My dad bought many vehicles from Mr. Berry's father and Judge Berry would grill a burger for me while I waited on my dad. Such fond memories of Judge Berry. RIP Mr. Berry.

Mrs. Berry and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and what a tremendous loss it is for so many. I have such warm and fun memories of Judge Berry from times standing before him in court, holiday lunches in the clerk´s office, all the way to his retirement party. He had a way of always displaying confidence in the work I did even if I didn´t feel it. I´m so thankful he enjoyed retirement years with his grandchildren. I will miss that smile and laugh. Rest in peace Judge Berry. You have earned it.
