EJ was a great teammate and leader of our college lacrosse team. We served as captains together when he was a junior and Josh Doxsee and I were seniors, a testimonial to the respect he earned from our teammates. He was skilled, powerful, relentless and constantly positive. He led by example and the occasional quiet word, and as the photo shows he always had your back. My sincere condolences.

I was lucky to know Erik as a colleague, a lacrosse coach to my kids, and a teacher to Emma (I was sorry I missed having you, Kate!). He was simply a light - one that shined brightly on all around him. Know that he made my boys life better and they will have that part of him always. I am forever grateful. Wishing you peace, the laughter of his memories, and love.

Erik was a great friend and inspiration to all of us who grew up with him in grade school and high school. We loved his constant good humor and how he would laugh at his own jokes in a way that made us laugh along with him.
We were in awe of his athletic talent. On the lacrosse field, he was a tank and a scoring machine. His team nickname was Weeble, after the toy that you could never knock over, because Weebles wobble, but they dont fall down. Even some of his signature moves and shots had nicknames, like the worm burner, an underhanded shot from the top of the box that skimmed along the grass and past every goalie we faced.
But he was much more than a great athlete. He was a great friend and a great person someone who was kind to all. Though many of us had lost direct contact with him after he moved west, we are devastated by the news of his loss. We have been meeting and sharing our memories of Erik, and we offer his family our deepest condolences. We are holding all of you in our thoughts.

I will see you on the other side brother. You taught us all a tremendous lesson on how to live our lives- even in the face of a brutal illness. Love you. G
