James Baker Obituary

James C. Baker, Jr., age 88 of Norristown, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Powerback Nursing Home in Norristown. He was born August 26, 1925 in Norristown, son of the late James C. Baker, Sr. and Leona (Milburne) Baker. He attended norristown schools, was a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Norristown, a member of I.B.P.D.E. of W. Lodge #438 in Norristown. For many years he worked as a presser for the former Peoples Cleaners. He also owned and operated the Underground Tavern in Norristown. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Branch) Baker. James is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Rogers (Harry); and two sons, Everett Baker and Ronald Johnson (Linda); 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Moon (James) Romaine Jones, and Ellen Baker; two brothers, Glenwood Baker and Edward Baker; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne; his first wife, Anna Bell (Golston) Baker; brothers, Robert, Jerry, Donald, and Walter; and a nephew, Bradford House. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26st at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 1208 Green Street, Norristown. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church.
