EXETER — Gary A. Zavacki, 69, of Exeter, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at the Commonwealth Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Edwin and Louise Yunik Zavacki. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Wyoming Area School District, and earned his Bachelors of Arts administration degree from Wilkes University. He worked for PPL customer service division as a radiation protection specialist.
Gary volunteered as a certified peer counselor for Amputee Coalition of America. He enjoyed music, especially playing one of his many guitars for family and friends. His favorite was the Beatles, which he played for his grandchildren. He was a fan and sports enthusiast of the Eagles and the Philadelphia sports teams. One of his passions was having dinner with is wife, Jean, with a good glass of wine.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Jean (Rostock) Zavacki; and children: Michael A. and his wife, Dominique Zavacki, Atlanta, Ga.; and Richard Zavacki, and his bonus daughter Brenda, Downingtown, Pa.; grandchildren: Roman and Merritt; and an aunt, Barbara Holmes, Asheville, N.C.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter. Funeral will be on Monday, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara Parish, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter. The Monsignor John Sempa, pastor, will be celebrant. Those attending services are asked to go directly to the church on Monday for the Mass. Interment will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
