LARKSVILLE — Joel Bell, Sr., of Larksville, formerly of Bear Creek and Sweet Valley, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Township. He was born Dec. 28, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Walter Edward Bell and Bernice Zardus Bell.
Joel was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver, and later worked at The Benton Foundry, Marquis Art and Frame, and TJ Maxx.
He was a member of the Larksville American Legion and liked camping and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Bernice Bell; brother, Walter Bell; nephews: SGT Dale T. Lloyd and Scott Lloyd.
Surviving are his children: William Tabbit-Humphrey, Mary Bell Sott, Jennifer Gower, Joel Bell, Jr., Walter Bell, Nicholas Bell, Michael Bell, Christina Bell, Rebekah Swire, and Eugene Bell; numerous grandchildren; sisters: Elaine Hotelling, Amy Beaver; niece, Stephanie Porter; and nephew, Raymond Naperkowski. Also surviving are many extended family members.
Friends may call Saturday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Private interment services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
