Rickard Stone Obituary

Rickard Jerome "Dizzy" Stone

Wichita Falls, TX

Rickard Jerome "Dizzy" Stone, 77, of Lake Kickapoo, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Lamar Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, with Dennis Neal of First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-7 PM, for visitation.

Dizzy was born on June 23, 1941 to Margarite and Rickard Stone in North Carolina. He graduated high school in 1959 from Newport News, Virginia. He worked in the shipyards until attending Ranger Junior College on a football scholarship. It was at RJC that he met the love of his life, Stanley Junee Neal, and they were married on November 5, 1966. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and he received his Master's Degree in Education from North Texas State University. Dizzy coached and taught at Grand Prairie, Anahuac and Wichita Falls. During his many years with WFISD, he taught and coached at Zundy Junior High, WFHS and was the math/computer coordinator at Hirschi High School. He also served as assistant principal at Rider High School and principal at both Holland and Harrell schools before his retirement. Dizzy loved fishing, hunting and was an AVID duck hunter. But most of all, he loved his Lord Jesus Christ and was a devout Christian serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for several decades at Lamar Baptist Church. His favorite biblical study and teaching was that of Eschatology.

Dizzy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stanley Junee of Lake Kickapoo, his son Neal and wife Tina of Lubbock, his daughter Casey (Mardis) and husband Chris of Lubbock, his sister Cherry Bell of Panama City, FL, brother-in-law Tony Neal and wife Toni of Wichita Falls, grandchildren Haleigh and Myranda Maris, William and Naomi Stone and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 5429 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75240.
