Edna Beamer Obituary

Edna E. Beamer, age 89, a Cumberland Rd. SW, Sherrodsville, O., resident, died early Tuesday evening, April 13, 2010, in her daughter Sherry's residence in Colfax, N.C.
She was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Warren Township, Tuscarawas County, O., and was the daughter of the late Oren B. and Alta Sell Newell. On May 27, 1941, she married her husband, the late Paul Beamer, who died April 11, 1985. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Herman Newell and Robert Newell, and her three sisters Dorothy Newell, Ellen Smith and Livonia McCreary.
She was a longtime member of the former Bethesda Lutheran Church at Sherrodsville until its closing, and was currently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Carrollton, O. A graduate of the former Sherrodsville High School, she was also a member of the Conotton Valley Senior Citizens. As Edna traveled the final leg of her journey, she took great comfort in her faith and the love of the Lord, and in the love of her family, which was a constant priority in her life. She was never too busy or too tired when someone needed her. She enjoyed many Skip-Bo and Domino games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never said "No!" Edna was a hard-working woman of many talents. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. In recent years Edna made over 100 doilies – beautiful pieces of art – which she lovingly presented to those she held dear, as a remembrance of their importance in her life. She will also be remembered for her pie-baking talent – especially her pumpkin pie made from pumpkins she had grown herself. Uncle Bob Newell said there was none like it in the country!
She is survived by three daughters and a son, Betty McCarty of Sherrodsville, Shirley and Rod Piatt of North Lawrence, O., Sherry and Bob Warner of Colfax, N.C., and Ken and Linda Beamer of Sherrodsville; her eight grandchildren, Amy and Mike Ohler of New Philadelphia, O., Kendra and Bruce Yoder of Dundee, O., Becky and Jerred Giauque and Melissa Beamer, both of Sherrodsville, and Kelly, Sarah, Abby and Erin Warner, all of Colfax, N.C., and three step-grandchildren Jessica, Matt, and Jackie Piatt all of North Lawrence, O. Her six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews complete her family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Andrew Riggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Edna's memory may be made to the Sherrodsville E.M.S., P.O. Box No. 31, Sherrodsville, O. 44675 or the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103. To leave an online condolence, please visit the funeral home Web site.

I will miss my mother. She was my best friend. She always had time to listen to whatever was on my mind. I will cherish all the times we shared and all her ideas and traditions she passed on to me. She was the best mother and friend anyone could ever have.

So sorry to hear about your mom. She was a special lady. We had some good domino games at mom's and also Senior Citizens -- you didn't miss the birthday dinner. That was the highlight of the month.

We will always remember her pies and especially her banana cake she brought to the Beamer Reunion. They were the best.

We appreciate the friendship she had with mom. They got along so well.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of you,

Marilyn and Gary McGill

Betty, You have my condolences. My mother died on Mother's Day 2008 & I sure miss her, but I know she is happy where she is at & she is now learning all she'll need to know to prepare to enter into Heavenly Father's presence on judgement day. All persons that die go to the Spirit World, as Jesus Christ did when He died & went there to set up the teaching of all that were there then, to continue learning & preparing for the day of resurrection. So we will all be back together again one day soon. May the Holy Ghost comfort & bless you & your family at this time of your needs.
