Alma Russell

Russell, Alma TROY Alma Russell, 88, of Troy, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 30, 2012 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice Eva Keeler McNerney and the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Russell. Alma was active in many local organizations, she was on the board of directors for Joseph's House as well as a Friend of Bill W. She enjoyed being outdoors, flower gardening, swimming, and was also a great trout fisherman, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and canine companion, Abby. Alma will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her sons, Dale (Susan) Russell of Cohoes and Donald (Sue) Russell of Troy; her loving grandchildren, Lauren L. and Dale Russell Jr., Tiffany (Michael) Lashway, Kelly Baker (Jennifer Nardacci), Donald T. Russell (Anthony Zartman), Ryan P. Russell, Vanessa (Thomas) Gillick and Holly E. Russell. She was the proud great-grandmother of Carly M. Baker, Ethan C. Lashway and Cadence R. M. Gillick. Alma was predeceased by her sisters, Vera Hall and Rita Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy and at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. James Vaughn. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
