Charles M. Fuda Sr.

Fuda, Charles M. Sr. VALATIE Charles M. Fuda Sr., 73, of Garrigan Rd., Valatie, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at his home. Born in Albany, N.Y. March 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles Mann and Mildred (Tesch) Fuda. Charlie attended Philip Schuyler High School in Albany and SUNY Cobleskill. He was a Coast Guard veteran stationed in New York Harbor and Stepping Stones Lighthouse on Long Island Sound. He joined the New York State Police in 1962 and retired in 1989. He was a past town of Kinderhook highway superintendent, a member and past commodore of the Hook Boat Club in Stuyvesant, and a member of the Palmer Engine and Hose Co. in Kinderhook and St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuyvesant. Charlie enjoyed boating and staying at their camp at the Hook Boat Club, tinkering with farm machinery, and his pets. He is survived by his wife Jane (Magsamen) Fuda of Valatie; four children, Charles "Corky" Fuda (Nadine) of Castleton, Ruth Wormald of Mkuu, Tanzania and Apex, N.C., Marie Scott (Andrew) of Valatie, Daniel Fuda (Janice) of Valatie; two sisters, Carol Guptill of Andover, N.H., and Elizabeth "Betsy" Schmidt of Brunswick, Maine; a brother, Paul Fuda of Albany. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Charles M. Fuda III, David Wormald, Jared Myers, Jonathan and Elizabeth Wormald, Ashley Fuda and Dana Scott; one great-grandson, Michael Charles Fuda; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie with Rev. David Nuss officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Valatie. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New York State Troopers Foundation, 3 Airport Park Blvd., Latham, NY 12110-1441.
