Charles Palombo Obituary

Palombo, Charles A. CLIFTON PARK Charles A. Palombo, 70, of Clifton Park, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 21, 1939 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Harry Palombo and Leona Trotter. He was a graduate of Berne-Knox High School and served in the army from 1957-1963 as an Intelligence Specialist, receiving a Good Conduct Medal as well as a Certificate of Recognition for service during the Cold War. Charles began his career as an accountant in Albany with Anderson Equipment and later became CFO of Carman Trucking Company. During this time he served on the boards of directors for both NYS Motor Truck Association and NYS Compensation Board. After retiring, he worked part time as an accountant at Comfort Mart in Troy. He was a former member of the Mendelssohn Club of Albany as well as the American Legion in Clifton Park. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Janet Freer Palombo; daughters, Allison (Lou) Bush of Halfmoon, Patricia (Richard) Manocchi of Glenville, and Carol Ann (James) McCarthy of Malta; and five grandchildren, Alyssa, Christian, Jordan, Ashley and Bella. Brother of the late John Palombo, he is survived by three sisters, Bernice Hart of Schenectady, Carol Warner of New York City and Donna Ostrander of Knox; stepmother, Delia Palombo of Knox, as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a ceremony at Saratoga National Cemetery, promptly at noon.
