Francis Millet Obituary

Millet, Francis E. WHITEHALL Francis E. Millet, 78, former resident of Whitehall, died on February 17, 2008 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Frank was received into the loving embrace of God and our blessed mother. Born on March 11, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late John I. and Mary (Kelly) Millet. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute and received his B.S. in philosophy at Villanova University and his M.B.A. at Siena College. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, Frank served during the Korean War era. He was an officer at Key Bank for over 25 years and a member of the bank's Centurion Club. In retirement, he remained active in church activities, golfing and bowling. He lived most of his life in Whitehall and most recently, resided in Latham, N.Y. where he attended the Eddy DayBreak and remained active socially, going out to dinner, the movies and shows and traveling to visit family and taking trips to Niagara Falls and to New York City to see the Yankees. In the fall, he traveled to Oregon for his granddaughters wedding held at a vineyard where he danced the night away under the stars with his five children. Frank was married to Jane Godfrey in 1957 and they raised five children in a warm and loving home. Frank's strong faith along with his love, compassion and respect for others was evident in all aspects of his life together with Jane. He not only was a loving husband, father and friend, he gave himself tirelessly and unselfishly to his family and church. Over the years, he dedicated his time and talents to Our Lady of Angels and Our Lady of Hope Parishes, serving as an active member of the men's choir and the Knights of Columbus. He served on other community service organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Frank is predeceased by his loving wife, Jane; his parents; his brother, John; and his granddaughter, Audney Borden. He is survived by his five children and their families, Jim and Donna Millet, Kathy and Peter Marthy, Jane and Kris Noonan, Eileen and Brian Borden and John and Stacey Millet; 12 grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Aguirre and Joan Hick and his brothers, Joseph Millet and Richard Millet; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 9 Wheeler Avenue, in Whitehall with Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, N.Y. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Following the funeral Mass, family and friends are invited to the Parish Hall at the church for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Dear Kathy, Peter & Family,

We were so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. We want to offer you and your family our heartfelt condolences. I know how much he was loved and revered by you and the children. Having worked with Frank for so long at KeyBank I know first hand how hardworking and caring he was. He made sure everyone in Whitehall was treated fairly and with the utmost care. I was very fortunate to see him and say hello again one last time a week ago or so.... I know he will be sorely missed by you and your entire family. Please be comforted in knowing that our thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole family in this time of grief and sadness in your lives. Frank will be in our thoughts & prayers as well.

Fondly,
