Jacob Cohen Obituary

Cohen, Jacob "Jack" ALBANY Jacob "Jack" Cohen of Albany, N.Y. died on Monday morning February 9, 2009 at the Albany Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cohen was born in Schenectady, N.Y. and attended Schenectady public schools. Jacob was a graduate of Siena College where he earned his accounting degree. He had been employed for many years as an accountant for New York State in various offices retiring many years ago. He was a member of Temple Israel and the brotherhood at the Temple. He was an Army veteran and served during World War II. Mr. Cohen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Goldenberg Cohen. Father of Mitchell Cohen and his wife Susan of Glenmont, N.Y., Michele Cohen of Guilderland, N.Y. and Helena Tobin and her husband David of Voorhees, N.J.; grandfather of Aaron, Alyssa and Emily Cohen, Gabrielle and Tara Tobin. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Hochberg. Services at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, N.Y. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland. Those wishing to remember Jacob in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Temple Israel in Albany or a charity of one's choice.
