Jean R. Hildebrandt

Hildebrandt, Jean R. TROY Jean R. Hildebrandt, 87, of Winter Street and formerly of Waterford, died on Thursday February 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Hayford Baker. She was a graduate of Waterford High School and Mildred Elley College in Albany. Jean had worked as sales manager for Ernest F. Fullam, Inc., in Colonie and retired in the early 1980s. In her earlier years, she was employed by the New York State Department of Education in Albany. For a number of years she volunteered at both St. Mary's Hospital and the former Leonard Hospital in Troy. She enjoyed walking and was often seen "walking the loop" from her home through the village of Waterford, through Lansingburgh and then over the 112th Street Bridge to Cohoes and back to Waterford. Known for her baking abilities, she always said she had to live up to her maiden name. At gatherings, she and her late husband Ray were always on the dance floor and were noted for their steps. Jean also enjoyed knitting and poetry. She filled the lives of her loved ones with warm sweaters, wonderful desserts and thoughtful poems. But Jean's greatest love was for her family and she devoted her life to her children. She was the widow of Raymond J. Hildebrandt, who died in 1996. She was the devoted mother of Daniel P. Hildebrandt (Marta) of Wynantskill and Danette M. Gratton (late Edward) of Troy. She was the proud grandmother of Ryan, Devon and Taylor Gratton, Gabriel and Sara Hildebrandt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford and at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
