COHOES - Maria Dubec, 80, entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Zdynia, Poland, Maria was the daughter of the late Paul and Paraska Spiak Urban. As one of six children, she grew up on a farm and shortly after World War II was transferred to Dankov, Poland. At the age of 20, she was sponsored by her uncle, Aksenty Urban to come to the United States where she met her husband, Lubomir Dubec. Together, they settled in Cohoes where she raised her family and has resided ever since.
Maria had been employed for many years at Albany International in Menands and prior to that, at Barclay Home Products in Cohoes. She was a devout member of St. Peter & St. Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cohoes. She enjoyed spending time at her home, gardening, cooking and most importantly, raising her family.
Maria was the loving wife of Lubomir Dubec who passed in 2000; the beloved mother of Paul Dubec and his wife Nicole of Halfmoon, and Adam Dubec of Cohoes; the adoring grandmother of Evan and Rachel Dubec; and the sister of Melanie and Stephan and the late Peter, Anna and Andryj. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter & St. Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. A Panakhyda service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 6 p.m.
