Abbott, Mary
COHOES - Mary E. Abbott, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Brooksville, Ky., after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Keefe) Doty of Cohoes, and the wife of the late Charles Abbott of Cohoes. They are now reunited after 19 years since Charlie's passing on April 15, 2006.
Mary and Charlie loved to go to Sam's Club for their Saturday shopping trips and to play bingo at the former Cohoes Community Center. They really enjoyed hosting the family poker nights… where the nickel and dimes could get pretty steep! Mary also enjoyed going to the casinos and playing the slots.
Mary was employed at Albany International in Menands, from which she retired after many years. She then went on to work at Macaran Printed Products (Nextgen Label) in Cohoes, alongside many family members.
Mary is survived by her children, Carol (late Paul) Bullock, Donald (Lynne) Abbott and Joseph (Kelly) Abbott; by her daughter-in-law, Vicki (late Thomas) Abbott; by her grandchildren, Kathleen (Todd) Gillespie, Brian (Carolyn) Bullock, Jason, Jerod, Jessica, Nikole, Joseph (Alyssa) and John Abbott, Wayne and MaryJean Whitney; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; by her sister, Dorothy (late William) Taylor; by her sisters-in-law, Dawn (late William) Doty and Heidi (late Joseph) Doty; along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son, Thomas Abbott; her son-in-law, Paul Bullock; her daughter-in-law, Jackie Abbott; her granddaughter, Joan Mary Abbott; and by her siblings, Rev. Harold Doty, Eileen Jensen, Lillian Taylor, Shirley Doty, William Doty, and Joseph Doty.
The family would especially like to thank Vicki for the loving care shown to Mary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9:30 a.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, from 4-7 p.m.
Mary loved her furry grandbabies.
