Thomas M. Harmon

Harmon, Thomas M. RENSSELAER Thomas M. Harmon passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Weedsport, N.Y., he was the son of the late Richard M. and Alice (O'Connor) Harmon. Tom enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Forces after graduating from Weedsport Central High School and served his country as a B-24 pilot in World War II. Following discharge from the service, Tom attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1950. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Julie Pridon, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Watervliet on September 9, 1950. Tom began his career as an aeronautical engineer working for 35 years at Grumman Corporation in Calverton, N.Y. After retiring, the pair returned to the Capital District to be near their family. Tom is predeceased by his beloved wife, Julie; his sisters, Agnes, Helen, Alice and his brothers, Harold, James, and Richard (Mike). He is survived by his loving children, Thomas R. (Sara) Harmon, James F. Harmon and Patricia A. (Anthony) Cannistraci. Tom is the cherished grandfather of Lauren, Christopher, Katrina, Stephan, Elizabeth, Luke, Jesse and Noah; and the adored great-grandfather of Drea Rose and numerous nieces, nephews cousins, and friends. Tom will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man, with a knack for telling stories that made people smile. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cannistraci residence, 44 Drumlough Rd, Averill Park. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush. Interment will be at 12 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association, P.O.
