Vickie Taylor Obituary

Taylor, Vickie L. BRUNSWICK Vickie L. (Krogh) Taylor, 62, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, died peacefully Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014, with her family by her side, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Troy on June 19, 1952, Vickie is the daughter of the late Howard Krogh and Beryl (Brust) Krogh of Brunswick who survives and for over 32 years the beloved wife of James R. Taylor of Brunswick, who also survives. Vickie and Jim were married on October 16, 1981. Vickie was a graduate of Tamarac High School. Shortly after graduating she was employed for several years by the former Grand Union Supermarket in Brunswick and enjoyed a 33 year career as a postal clerk at the United States Post Office in Latham from which she retired in 2007. Most recently, she was employed for the past five years by Debra LaMay Agency, in Malta. In her quiet time, Vickie found enjoyment with her family and friends. She was a life member of Gilead Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered at the food pantry. She participated in her sons' extra-curricular activities including Little League and was a Cub Scouts Leader, later going on to be the "proud mom" of two Eagle Scouts. Vickie loved to bake and care for her home, enjoyed traveling, especially to her "second home", Maine, and taking long rides with Jim, on the back of his Harley Davidson motorcycle. In addition to her husband and mother, Vickie is survived by two sons, Jason W. Bowman and his partner Christopher Adasiewicz of Brooklyn, and Jeffrey W. Taylor of Troy; her sister and brother-in law, Becky and Anthony Randio of Clifton Park; a maternal aunt and two uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and co-workers. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Gilead Lutheran Church (intersection of NYS Route 7 and Route 278) in Brunswick with Rev. Stephen Cordes officiating. Burial will follow at Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Gilead Lutheran Church on Friday, October 10, 2014, from 4 - 8 p.m. At the request of Vickie's family, rather than flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to Gilead Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 26, Cropseyville, NY 12052 or drop a food good in the pantry basket at the back of the church in memory of Vickie L. Taylor.

To my Uncle Jimmy, my cousins Jeff and Jason and Beryl,
My heart hurts for you and our family! I believe this is one of the toughest things we've had to go through! Aunt Vickie was the heart of the Taylor's, she always smiled and was always laughing. I still feel like I can hear her laughing now as I write this to you. I think she would be proud of how things went today! We certainly know now that we have an amazing guardian angel looking over us! If any of you need anything, I am always here!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We were so saddened to learn of Vickie's passing. When I think of your mom, it is her great big beautiful smile and her giggles that will always come to mind. I have so many great memories of her up at camp, teasing my Mom and giggling with your Aunt Jeanette and me. She was really a shining star and so filled with joy light. Our family loved her. Please accept our deepest sincere condolences. Hugs.
