I just heard of Dr. Bartley's passing today. I am deeply saddened with your loss. He was a great physician. He cared for his patients. I will always remember how he tried to get me to be a Jaguar fan like him but I was always a loyal Dolphin fan:) I missed seeing him in the halls of St. Vincent's. My deepest sympathy for you and your family. He will be truly missed.

I have missed seeing Dr. Bartley at work the last few years, but am glad he was able to spend the time with his family. He had a way of striking fear in the hearts of nurses, but only if the nurse had missed something. His focus was always on what was best for his patients and he had high expectations of all the nurses caring for his patients. My prayers are with the family, you were blessed with a good husband and father.

I will always remember working with Dr. Bartley while I was the UR nurse on 5 Center, SVMC. Unique in his ways but always cared deeply for his patients. I will never forget the day he came into my late husbands hospital room and said "I only know one person with a name like yours. Hello Ila." He was very kind and caring for my husband. He could be hard on the nursing staff but not one of us would have turned his help down had we been ill. God Speed. ILa Pandegirot, RN

Don and I grew up from Hendricks Elementary thru Bolles. We used to spend the night at each others house as kids and enjoyed playing football and baseball in the neighborhood park as I lived on Alhambra Drive and he lived on Cordova. We lost touch after high school but I have fond memories of my childhood as we were good friends.I remember he was a much better golfer than me at Beauclerc Country Club, where we also played golf together as friends. My deepest sympathy to the Bartley family.
